Synopsis

SYNOPSIS

"A History of Blood" follows Sebastián Aragón, 35, brilliant historian and L.A. based curator with fragmented memories and a mysterious blood disorder. When he travels to Spain to acquire a castle for LACMA, he uncovers his real identity as Sebastián, 7th Lord Aragón, 15th-century vampire lord. The series uniquely parallels Sebastián's journey in both timelines, showcasing how his soul and character are shaped across centuries.
In 1460, we see 8-year-old Sebastián learning chess and swordplay from his father, Lord Rodrigo, cultivating the elegance and strategic mind of the heir to Aragón. In a mirrored scene in 1997, 8-year-old modern Sebastián watches his 20th-century parents Robert and Sylvia Aragón at a chess tournament, absorbing the skills anew.
As an adult in 2024, Sebastián's orderly life as a curator is marked by a subtle but distinct air of precision, courtesy, and poetic sensibility uncommon in the 21st century.
His mandated journey to Spain awakens sweet memories and brutal visions, as the process of merging his two selves into a complete whole evolves.
Straddling two timelines, Sebastián combines his knowledge of history, technology with newly rediscovered powers; physical, and mental, and the ability to time travel via Ley Lines to save his wife Ana from the clutches of the Spanish Inquisition. As he navigates court intrigue, family betrayals, museum politics, marital bliss and the complexities of time itself, Sebastián finds himself at the center of a cosmic chess game
where the stakes are nothing less than the fate of history itself.
Sebastián's unique blend of skills are his greatest asset. Drawing on his Stanford education, where he majored in History and minored in Technology, he enhances and manipulates the Ley Lines, creating a sophisticated map and tech tools based on geography, scientific research, and accounts of known time travelers and their
accomplishments. This fusion of historical knowledge and cutting-edge technology allows him to "play with one of the greatest mysteries of all time" as he strives to bring Ana safely back to 1487 before her murder, and optimistically, to present day.
Throughout the series, we witness Sebastián leverage advantages of both eras, becoming the man he was meant to be -- lordly yet modern, effective in battle and boardrooms, brave and bold, yet stealthy in chess, career, managing his dual existence. The rediscovery of a great love – after years of solitude deepens his devotion to Ana -completes his transformation, driving his mission across time.

SEBASTIAN: TIME-TRAVELING MUSEUM CURATOR, LORD, KNIGHT, GENTLEMAN... AND VAMPIRE.

A complex 15th Century Vampire who travels through centuries.  Elegant fighting skills, dry wit, horsemanship, a worldly romantic persona and a dark side.

Who wouldn't fall in love with Don Sebastian?

ANA DE COSTA: JEWESS, KABBALAH ALCHEMIST, LADY-WIFE OF DON SEBASTIAN.

Charming, intellectual, subtle, feisty, brainy, sensual and fearless. Ana de Costa returns in each book with a different identity as the eternal wife of Don Sebastian de la Villanueva.

The series, based on the first volume of  Les Daniels' book series The Don Sebastian Chronicles (optioned),  follows Sebastián's journey to master time travel, save Ana, and navigate the dangerous waters of both 15th century Spanish politics and modern-day challenges.  As he grows into his dual identity, he must confront historical injustices, personal vendettas, and the far-reaching consequences of altering the past.
